Why Choose Us?
Because we are different...
We're here to help you get the most out of treatment
Melbourne Centre for ISTDP was started to provide therapy, workshops, training and research into Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. Our experience has demonstrated to us the importance of relationships in helping people to grow and develop, and this is incorporated into our approach. From our experience, clients who do well in therapy typically learn ways of improving their relationships with close others, even when this is not the primary reason for counselling. As such, we keep relationships in mind throughout the process of therapy, in order to help clients to grow and develop outside of therapy.
ISTDP draws from contemporary psychological theories, including theories of attachment, relationships, and the emerging field of interpersonal neurobiology and the treatment is capable of being tailored to your individual needs.
Our Glen Iris location is designed to allow convenient access to psychology services for those living or working in surrounding areas, such as Boroondara (including Glen Iris, Malvern, Ashburton, Armadale and Toorak), Monash (including Ashwood, Burwood, Glen Waverley and Mt Waverley), Manningham (including suburbs such as Doncaster East, Donvale, Templestowe, Bulleen, and Warrandyte), Nillumbik (including Eltham), Banyule (including suburbs such as Heidelberg, Macleod, and Montmorency) Whitehorse (including suburbs such as Burwood, Blackburn, Box Hill, and Mitcham), Boroondara (including suburbs such as Balwyn, Surrey Hills, and Kew), and Maroondah (including suburbs such as Ringwood and Croydon).
However, many of our clients are willing to travel from other areas in Melbourne and interstate in order to access a service that result in lasting changes.
Block Therapy Availability
If you are unable to attend regular appointments
Block therapy is available if you need to travel to access treatment
Block Therapy is an alternative form of ISTDP treatment that can be provided for people who need to travel long distances or are unable to attend regular appointent (e.g., monthly). For those living out of state, “block therapy” is an option. In block therapy, the entire course of treatment is conducted via 3-4 hour blocks ususally on a monthly basis.
Block Therapy needs to be arranged in advance due to scheduling. Please contact Dr Stephen Arthey or Dr Dion Nowoweiski to find out more about availability for a course of Block Therapy.
