Why could the Melbourne Centre for ISTDP be the right choice for you?

The Melbourne Centre for ISTDP is the leading provider of Treatment and Training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy in Australasia.

We have offices located in Melbourne (VIC) and the Gold Coast (QLD). Affordable and effective treatment can be accessed at both locations.

Dr Stephen Arthey and Dr Jasmina Markovski are available at our Gold Coast location.

Dr Dion Nowoweiski and Dr Sarah Nowoweiski are available at our Melbourne location.

In order to provide a convenient service for those living in the eastern, north-eastern, and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, we are located at 24 High Street, Glen Iris. This is a quiet suburban location, chosen to provide a peaceful environment for therapy just off the Monash Freeway and accesible via the Glen Waverley train line (stops at Glen Iris Station).

At the Melbourne Centre for ISTDP we specialise in providing Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) treatment. Researchers have found that ISTDP is an appropriate form of treatment for 5 out of 6 psychotherapy/psychology referrals. It is now the best researched of all short-term dynamic models with over 40 published outcome studies and many other research publications.

It has been found to be effective in treating anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviours, eating disorders, phobias, panic, anger outbursts, chronic headaches and other physical problems (for which a medical cause has not been found) and self-destructive behaviours.

It is arguably the most relevant of psychological treatments available to clinicians today, allowing the stopping of medication in most cases, even in those with persistent psychological problems as well as those with common psychological disorders (e.g. anxiety, depression) and personality disorders.

Simply put, ISTDP can help clients succeed in overcoming internal obstacles when many other traditional treatment efforts have not. For example, there is research evidence indicating that, people should have a trial of ISTDP before starting psychiatric medications and before trying ECT or other invasive procedures.
